FEEDBACK SEATS BY TILLETT

Chassis feedback

If there is any reason to get a Feedback seat, it is for the simple fact that no other seat transmits vehicle dynamics feedback as well.  Due to the stiffness, ergonomic design and minimal padding, you instantly feel the rotation of the car.  The first thing I noticed after installing these seats is the chassis slightly twists as I rolled over the lip of the garage and into the driveway.  This connected feeling continued as I took a turn with an elevation drop out of my neighborhood.  I proceeded to press the car on some switchbacks, and I immediately and directly felt the car rotate and slide making it easier to catch and control.  The seats simply transmit feedback that is dampened out by excessive padding or delayed by the flexing of OEM and other aftermarket seats.   I felt more in touch with the car like I was a part of the chassis and not simply resting inside of it.

Feedback Seat are made by kart seat manufacturer Tillett.  Karts have axles fixed to the chassis, no suspension and use seats as a stressed member.  The way to tune a karts handling is by varying the stiffness of the seats.  Feedback seats are equivalent to rigid kart seats as the S2000 has suspension and more chassis flex than a kart.  OEM seats are made from a steel frame and typical aftermarket seats are made from plastic resins and both noticeably flex with any kind of force.  Feedback seats are so stiff, that you can easily rock the car by pushing on the seats outside the car.

Feedback seats are contoured to the body, making them naturally comfortable and for some padding is not needed.  Typical aftermarket seats are made with shells that are box like buckets covered by padding of varying thickness to conform to the body.  Variable padding provides variable support that introduces uncomfortable pressure points.  By making a shell that conforms to the human body, the need for thick padding is reduced as the seat’s shell offers distributed support.  All Feedback seats come with a padded headrest to reduce head injury from the ultra-stiff shell.  Optional bottom and band padding are available to improve comfort on longer drives.

Materials & Manufacturing

Feedback seats are made either made with Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) or Full Carbon Fiber core, each with similar stiffness with Carbon core seats typically weighing 30-35% less.  Each Feedback seat is meticulously crafted via a 4-step manufacturing process.  First, the seating surface and frame are laid by hand made aluminum molds.  The molds are injected with resin and then cured over 24 hours.  Second, the seating surface and frame are place in a fixture that bonds them together via additional resins and curing.  Third, the bonded seat is placed into a 6-axis water jet that trims the edges and cut the harness holes.  Last, the seats are sent to the upholstery shop where Dinamica suede covered padding is added and rubber edging is applied around the harness holes to limit wear.

The finish of Feedback seats are exceptional as the resigns provide high gloss shine right out of the aluminum molds.  We have personally purchased and used other carbon seat manufactures and nothing comes close to the quality despite similar costs.  With well-laid carbon fiber and high gloss finish, these seats provide an aesthetic upgrade to your interior.   Many other carbon kart seats on the market are not pre-preg/dry carbon fiber and tend to fracture into splinters.  That maybe fine for the body of the car, it is unacceptable and dangerous for a seat.  Although Feedback seats are rigid under normal use, they are designed to flex at around 30G, a load only seen in collisions.  This flex makes Tillett seats safe, as they will absorb energy before transmitting it to the occupant.

S2000 fitment

The biggest problem that plagues aftermarket seat selection for the S2000 is outer size fitment.  Nearly all aftermarket seats provide bolster via large ears behind the shoulders.  The S2000 cabin is small and typical aftermarket seats with shoulder bolster will interfere with the center console, rub the cabin behind the door or both.  All seats have universally spaced 29cm mounting points to fit common rail and mounting systems.

Feedback Seats provide excellent fitment with in the S2000 due to another kart design philosophy.  Karts don’t have driver restraint systems so the seat itself must be designed to keep the driver in the kart.  Feedback Seats wrap around to bolster the torso, which is the largest unsupported body mass in a seated position.  This also provides more freedom for the arms and shoulders to operate the car compared to typical aftermarket seats that bolster behind the shoulder limiting arm movement and range.  Moving the bolster from behind the shoulders to around the torso provides a more comfortable, supportive, and narrower seat providing excellent clearance in the S2000.

Since Feedback seats are made with ultra-stiff carbon fiber or GRP, they are thinner than OEM or most aftermarket seats allowing them to slide further back or sit even lower accommodating taller, longer drivers more.  If you don’t need the extra space, then you will notice the extra storage behind or below the seat.

Weight Savings

The B9 is the lightest weight, S2000 compatible seat on the market at ~7.4 lbs without pads.  With all of the feedback seats ranging between 8-14 lbs with padding, using double lock Nagisa or EVS seat rails, a 40-60% weight savings vs the 33 lbs OEM seats with mounts.  This is a potential weight savings of 30-40+ lbs for both seats.

FIA approved options

Feedback seats come in 2 FIA approved, the B6 S and B7.  Both come in XL fitments for larger drivers.  The B6 is a cost-efficient option with GRP core and either a GRP finish or Carbon front finish.  The B7 is the lightest FIA approved seat on the market with a full carbon core and finish.

halo stroker kit

The URGE designs Halo Stroker kit is the result of a 4-year journey towards part optimization, aimed at preserving the original AP1 9000 RPM redline and S2000 high RPM ethos while extending the stroke to eliminate the F20C mid-range deficiency. The exceptional weight reduction we accomplished helps reduce vibration, crankshaft forces, and bearing pressures compared to the F20C 84mm short stroke. As a result of the lightweight approach, the Halo stroker kit is specifically designed for Normally Aspirated applications.

Bumpstix camshafts

As part of our commitment to achieving our design objectives, URGE adopts an iterative approach that ensures the project meets our high standards. During this process, we subjected numerous material suppliers, camshaft designers, and manufacturers to rigorous vetting to ensure they shared our vision of quality and performance.

We conducted a series of measurements, dyno tests, and quality inspections on dozens of camshafts to identify and address common issues such as porous metal casting, high-stress lobe profiles, inaccurate timing, and other deficiencies that can arise when corners are cut. This rigorous vetting process ensures that we deliver camshafts that meet or exceed industry standards, providing optimal performance and durability.
