Improve Rear Rotor Cooling

If you’re looking for an upgrade for your S2000’s rear rotors, look no further than URGE Flow Rotors. These 2-piece vented rotors provide superior cooling compared to the solid rear rotors that come with your OEM S2000. We have customer-proven thermal measurements that demonstrate this significant difference in cooling.

After a ½ cooldown lap with an additional lap around the paddock, our rotors showed a temperature difference of over 175 degrees Fahrenheit compared to the OEM rotors. On track during a session, this difference can be even greater, potentially reaching hundreds of degrees. This improved cooling not only provides better performance but also helps to extend the lifespan of your brake components.

Don’t settle for inferior rear rotors that can’t handle the demands of the track. Upgrade to URGE Flow Rotors and experience the difference for yourself.

Improved Front Brake Temperatures

S2000 owners often underestimate the impact of rear brake rotors during a track session. The reality is that the rear rotors immediately fade, increasing the braking stress on the front brakes. A thermal image of the same customer’s front brake kit after ½ cooldown lap with an additional lap around the paddock shows a 38-degree Fahrenheit difference in rotor temperature, which would be noticeably greater on track. With a rear rotor upgrade like the URGE Flow Rotors, you can potentially achieve a 60-80 degree Fahrenheit reduction in front brake temperatures on track, providing a safer and more reliable driving experience. Don’t overlook the importance of upgrading your rear brake rotors and start experiencing the difference on the track today.

Reduce Rear Bearing Failure

If you track your S2000, you may not be aware of the potential consequences of running on overheated rear solid discs. These discs can lead to higher rear bearing failure rates, which can be quite costly to replace. With the URGE Flow 2-piece rear rotor, you can significantly reduce the heat transfer into the rear hubs, as the rotor operates at lower temperatures. Additionally, the 2-piece design helps to reduce heat transfer between the steel discs and aluminum hubs, making this upgrade well worth it for any S2000 owner who enjoys pushing their car to the limits. Not only will you avoid the costly repairs associated with bearing failure, but you’ll also have the peace of mind that comes with knowing your car is equipped with high-quality, durable components.

Reduce Rotational weight

URGE Flow Rear rotors offer significant weight savings compared to OEM solid rear rotors, resulting in reduced unsprung and rotational weight. With a weight of only 8 lbs compared to the OEM solid rear rotor that weighs 10 lbs, the URGE Flow Rear rotors save a total of 4 lbs of unsprung and rotational weight. This weight reduction translates to improved handling and acceleration.

Compared to other 2-piece rear rotors in the market, the URGE Flow Rear rotors are smaller in diameter, lighter in weight, and more affordable. Adding extra weight to your car with larger, heavier rotors can negatively affect your vehicle dynamics and acceleration. URGE Flow Rear rotors offer the perfect balance of weight savings, cooling efficiency, and affordability, making them the ideal choice for S2000 owners looking to enhance their vehicle’s performance.

Track Feedback

Customer has been road racing, time trialing & professionally prepping cars for 20+ years

  • Track records at 3 different tracks in 2 different cars
  • AP2 Supercharged, 390-450 WHP depending on event/class
  • Hoosier Tires, 3150 lbs w/ Driver, Street legal & full interior
  • Testing done at VIR, 3-day weekend, 9 20-30 min sessions

“The short story is the car stops better-my lap times improved (I made no other changes)-my brake zones (2 areas from max velocity to threshold braking) where compressed-the “balance” of the car under braking is much improved-my car liked the fact that there was “more” rear brake-car is more stable under threshold braking-rear brake pad wear has reduced (I did not change brake compounds, I run Carbotech pads). I don’t like that the brake pads need to be shaved but I have learned that every time you modify a car, there has to be a compromise, so shaving the rear pads is just a little compromise to get improved braking”

Note: Customer normally replaces Stoptech rotors after 2 weekends/12 track sessions due to cracks.  The customer noticed no Stoptech cracks after 9 20-30 track sessions using our Flow Rear Rotors.

Rear Pad Management

When installing 2 new pads, each pad needs 2mm shaved off OR 1 new pad can be installed with a partially used pad, continue swapping pads to maximize use across both sets of pads.

Rear Bracket Modifications

1.5 mm needs to be removed from the long, inside of the bracket & 3 mm from the short, outside of the bracket

We can do this for $100 + $100 refundable core swap (US only, International must modify locally)

US customers can modify themselves to save time & money

“I ordered the URGE Flow rotors, with the modified rear brackets, during the introductory sale. This was my first real interaction with URGE and I found everything about URGE and the Flow kit to be quality. Patrick provided numerous updates leading up to shipment of the rotors. He checked in periodically to see if I had received the rotors, if I had any questions as I installed them, and how they were working once installed. The rotors are 3.5mm wider, vented, and came in at 8.4lbs to my 10lb SoS rotors. The modified brackets are machined, cleaned, and painted. Everything installed with OEM fitment, a rare quality in most aftermarket parts.

With the URGE rotors, balance came back and wear has come to a screeching halt.”  Full review here

Girodisc Front Rotor upgrade

For S2000 racers who want to improve their braking performance without having to go for a full front big brake kit (BBK), we offer an optional Girodisc front rotor upgrade. OEM S2000 front rotors are known to crack on track, and many racers carry several front rotor spares for their track weekends. The straight vanes of OEM rotors limit heat dissipation, which increases on-track temperatures. The OEM one-piece design also limits rotor flexibility, creating a higher potential for cracking and premature disc life.

Our Girodisc front rotors have curved vanes that increase the centrifugal effect, pulling more air into the hub, and accelerating more air through the rotors. This results in increased heat dissipation capability and lower track temperatures, brake pad and disc wear. The 2-piece design of Girodisc rotors provides more flexibility than OEM, eliminating the chances of cracking and premature disc life. Despite the higher cost, Girodisc front rotors increase pad and rotor life, eliminate rotor cracking, and potentially reduce overall maintenance costs. They fit the OEM calipers and brackets without any modifications. Finally, the Girodisc 2-piece front rotors save 1-2 lbs per rotor compared to OEM and traditional OEM replacements, improving acceleration, turn-in, and reducing braking distances marginally.

The URGE Flow rear rotors combined with Girodisc front rotors offer comparable braking improvement to a front BBK with stock rear rotors. The curved vanes of Girodisc front rotors increase front rotor heat dissipation, while URGE Flow rear rotors provide an extreme improvement in rear heat dissipation with vented rear rotor. This combination also reduces front bias shift from fading rear brakes, which compounds front brake temperature reduction.

Our combo discount applies to customers who purchase URGE Flow rear rotors and Girodisc 2-piece front rotors together. This combo maximizes rotor cooling and performance using OEM calipers, and the savings will make your purchase more cost-effective.
